Daylight Saving and Halakha

With the United States Senate’s recent unanimous vote to keep America on Daylight Saving time year-round, the halakhic world is concerned about a variety of potential ramifications should this bill become a law. This is not the first time morning minyan-goers have been left in the dark. During the energy crises of the 1970s America similarly kept “summer time” in effect year-round – and our Rabbi J. David Bleich was there to help us make sense of the issues through the prism of the halakha.
