The recent publication of Prof. Haym Soloveitchik’s “Rupture and Reconstruction” in book form is an occasion of note for readers of TRADITION, who first encountered the now-classic essay in our pages (Summer 1994). This is especially the case as the author has added lengthy appendices in which he responds to those who have commented on (and criticized) what he wrote over a quarter-century ago, including TRADITION’s Fall 2019 symposium “Rupture and Reconstruction Reconsidered.”
Haym Soloveitchik’s Rupture & Reconstruction: The Transformation of Contemporary Orthodoxy—The Landmark Essay Revisited is available for purchase from The Littman Library of Jewish Civilization.
The 2019 TRADITION symposium, to which Haym Soloveitchik replies in his new volume, is available as free e-book download here.
